For the Love of Bamboobies!

For some time now bamboo has been my favorite natural fabric. I love it for diaper inserts, and wipes. Even more, I love my kids hooded bath towels from Whimsyboo Baby that are made from organic bamboo velour. Its super soft, incredibly absorbent and better yet I have peace of mind knowing it is sustainable natural fiber. So when I originally heard about Bamboobies in a video from CandidMommy many moons ago, I had pretty high expectations. At that time we were just beginning to start to TTC Averlee, so I wasn't in the market just yet, but I filed it away to remember at a later date. And who could forget about them with an awesome name like Bamboobies?
Fast forward a few months later when I was actually pregnant with Averlee, I started buying some every time I saw a sale pop up on their Facebook page. I even scored a free pair during a promotion from Kelly's Closet.
After giving birth to Averlee, we used sposies for every thing while we were in the hospital. When it came time to head home we switched everything over to cloth, her diapers, my pads, and my nursing pads. My nipples were a little sore with a bit of cracking from just beginning breastfeeding again so the softness of the bamboo velour made my breasticles quite happy. I definitely felt like they helped keep the moisture away from my nipples. I credit this (and the use of coconut oil) to the noticeably faster healing time, in comparison to when I used disposables with my son.
I am a pretty heavy leaker, and I was worried that they regular daytime heart shaped nursing pads wouldn't be enough, especially with how thin they are. I guess this is a classic example of how looks can be deceiving because they sure did absorb like champs.I had no issues with leaking through them as long as I changed them a couple times a day.
The overnight option was a life saver for me. I can remember countless mornings from when I was breastfeeding my son that I would wake up and have soaked through my nursing pads, bra, shirt and would have a giant wet spot on the sheets. I seriously thought I was going to have to get a rubber sheet to prevent my mattress from permanently smelling like sour milk. And I almost forgot to mention the soggy nips that I would wake up with too. Picture a nipple version of pruning fingers from being in the bath tub too long. Not cute and it left them more vulnerable to cracking. With the overnights, I didn't experience soggy nipples and very rarely leaked through the pads. If I did it would just be a little on my shirt, which is a far cry from soaking the whole bed.
Overall I LOVE these nursing pads. I love the cute heart shape and the color options. I am always a sucker for pretty. I love that they work and don't show through my bra. I love that they are environmentally friendly and saved me money. I love them more then disposables and more then the other reusable nursing pads I purchased. Really the only negative thing I can say is that I didn't have enough. I probably needed to double my daytime stash to cut down a little on the laundry because I did have to wash almost everyday in the early weeks.

*Disclaimer: I was not paid to review this product. All opinions are my own and were not influenced by anything other then my own personal experience with their nursing pads. Bamboobies did send me additional nursing pads, though I had already purchased several pairs myself. Bamboobies is generously sponsoring the giveaway of $25 credit to their website and provided the 20% off coupon code.
